Register your first name
Registering a .box name takes four steps: find an available name, review your cart, choose how to pay, and confirm. This guide walks the whole path.
Before you start
You need a connected wallet (see Connect a wallet), because your new name is sent to that wallet. Have a way to pay ready too: either a card, or crypto in your wallet (ETH, USDC, or USDT on Ethereum).
Step 1: Search for a name
Type the name you want into the Search box. As you type, my.box keeps only the characters a name can use: letters, numbers, and hyphens, up to 63 characters. Other characters are dropped automatically, so there is no error to clear.
Each result tells you where it stands. An available name shows a green Available tag with its price per year. A name that is already registered shows Taken, and an exact search that is unavailable reads "is not available" with a prompt to try the suggestions below.
When you find one you want, choose Add to cart. The button then reads View in cart. Adding a name shows a reminder that availability is only guaranteed once checkout is complete, so it pays to finish promptly.
Step 2: Review your cart
Open your cart to see each name with a year stepper and its price. Use the stepper to set how long to register for, from one to ten years. The order summary totals everything in US dollars. A Crypto details section gives an estimate in ETH, USDC, or USDT, with a note that the final crypto amount and network fees are confirmed at checkout.
When the cart looks right, choose Continue to Payment.
Step 3: Choose how to pay
Payment has two parts. First, confirm your wallet is connected (the page prompts you to Connect wallet if not). Then pick a payment method: Credit Card or Crypto.
Credit Card collects your card number, expiry, security code, and the name on the card. You can turn on Auto-renew domains so the name renews automatically each year.
Crypto lets you pay from your wallet in Ethereum, USDC, or USDT. my.box shows the amount you'll pay and an estimated network fee, and warns you if your balance is short or your wallet is on the wrong network.
To use a discount, open Have a promo code?, enter the code, and choose Apply. A promo applies to a single name in the order, not the whole cart.
Either way, accept the terms with I accept the terms and conditions before you continue.
Step 4: Confirm and register
How you finish depends on the payment method.
With a card, choose the pay button (it shows the total, for example Pay $50.00 USD). On success you reach a confirmation reading "Congratulations! You're all set!", and my.box provisions your names in the background and emails you when they are ready.
With crypto, choose Continue to registration. Registering a name on-chain is a three-part sequence you approve in your wallet:
Open Wallet and Start Registration reserves your name. This first step is free.
A short Verifying your reservation wait follows, a required pause between reserving and registering.
Pay & Register completes the purchase on-chain. When it confirms, your names are registered to your wallet.
After registration
From the confirmation screen you can open Manage your names, start another search, or enable DNS on a name. DNS is optional: your name works as an ENS name right away, and you can turn on the website layer whenever you like. See Enable DNS on your name and Name overview.
