Renew your .box name

Renewing extends your registration so your .box name stays active. Your settings, DNS configuration, and ENS profile all stay exactly as they are. You can renew for one to ten years, and pay by card or with crypto.

Start a renewal

Open the name from My Names, then choose Renew name. This opens the renewal cart, headed Renew your name, showing the name with a Renewal badge and a year stepper.

Use the stepper to set how many years to add, from one to ten. The order summary lists the price, shows the network fee as Free, and totals an Estimated Total in US dollars. When it looks right, choose Continue to Payment.

Choose what to renew (names with DNS)

If the name has DNS active, my.box asks what to include before you continue:

  • Renew ENS + DNS keeps the full experience: your onchain identity, website, email, and DNS records all stay active. This is the recommended option.

  • Renew ENS Only keeps your onchain identity and wallet resolution but lets the DNS services lapse at the end of the current term.

Pick one and choose Continue to Renewal. Names without DNS skip this step.

Pay

Payment works like registration. Pick Credit Card or Crypto, then accept the terms with I accept the terms and conditions.

  • Credit Card collects your card details. You can leave Auto-renew domains on so the name renews itself next year (see Auto-renew). Choose the pay button, which shows the total (for example Pay $50.00 USD).

  • Crypto lets you pay in Ethereum, USDC, or USDT. Choose Continue to registration, then approve the renewal in your wallet on the next screen. Paying with ETH is a single transaction; paying with a stablecoin is two (a token approval, then the renewal). The button reads Pay & Renew.

Renewal does not use the reservation step that a first registration does, so there is no waiting period between transactions.

When it completes you reach a Renewal complete! screen showing the new expiration date and the years you added, with a link back to My Names.

Which names can be renewed

Only active names go through this flow, including names that are close to expiring. If a name has already expired, use Recover now on the name instead (see Understand name status); recovery runs the same renewal under the hood. A name that has been revoked cannot be renewed.
