Set Primary ENS Name

This guide will walk you through setting your .box as your Primary ENS Name.

Implicit vs Explicit Forward Resolution

All .box domains come implicitly pointing to the wallet which is holding the token; on transfer the new owner's wallet will fill that spot.

The address can be explicitly set; meaning any time someone uses it for a transfer the set address will be returned regardless of the wallet holding the token.

Primary ENS Name

The feature is only available on Ethereum Mainnet and is set on a per wallet basis; this also allows metamask to resolve your wallet to the domain name instead of 0x...

Selecting another name will trigger a transaction on Ethereum Mainnet, which has a gas fee of approx $5 - $15. Please make sure your wallet has enough Ethereum to settle that transaction.

Resolution

What is Forward Resolution?

Forwards resolution is the process of going from name to address. As well as to load the records associated to a name. These records include but are not limited to text records such as bios, X handle, email, Discord ID, and more.

How do I set Forward Resolution with .box domains?

Currently, all .box domains are automatically set to forward to the wallet that holds the domain NFT. No manual configuration is required. You can set another Forward Resolution address manually if you so choose.

What is Reverse Resolution?

Conversely, reverse resolution is the process of mapping an Ethereum wallet address back to a human-readable domain name.

How do I set Reverse Resolution with .box domains?

Reverse resolution is the same thing as setting your Primary ENS Name. Learn how to set that up here.
